Dental Implants

Missing something? Many adults are… missing teeth. This can make you miserable and affect the quality of your life.

Dental implants are one of the greatest advancements in dentistry. In the last few decades replacing missing teeth with dental implants has been the way to go over traditional methods. Although dental bridges and dentures were the standards for replacing missing teeth, today dental implants offer a far superior alternative. Dental implants offer a permanent foundation to support single crowns, multiple teeth bridges or complete overdentures.

Following the loss of a tooth, the bone has a natural tendency to shrink. An implant will help preserve this jawbone.

Implants are proven to have a very high success rate and in most cases will far outlive other dental prosthetics. The neighboring teeth do not need to be altered or damaged. The chewing efficiency is improved and will allow for the proper chewing of solid and hard textured foods. Patients experience greater comfort and better speech capabilities. Esthetically, the teeth will look and feel fully natural and your self-esteem will improve.

We have teamed up with excellent specialists who will evaluate our patients, assess the remaining bone by means of 3D imaging and present the options which will be available for each individual situation.

If there is a lack of adequate bone, then the surgeon may recommend a bone grafting procedure. If a graft is required, it heals in a few months, then the dental implant, made of titanium, is placed and allowed to heal over a 4 to 6 month period. Once we are certain the implant has integrated with your jawbone we can predictably, through digital planning and fabrication, rebuild your tooth with a ceramic implant crown. If more teeth are involved then implant-supported bridges or overdentures can be planned and delivered to restore the health of your mouth to full form and function.

During this period, temporary dentures can be worn to minimize disruption to eating and socialization.

Dental implants can open the door to renewed self-confidence and better health. If you have missing teeth, give us a call at (416) 237-1273. We can help.
